Sewmiga's Monthly Workshop
Learn Two Bags. Master Five Essential Bag-Making Skills.

Join us for a 5-hour hands-on Sewmiga workshop where you'll create two stylish handmade bags while building skills you can use in future projects. You'll make a quilted tote bag with two straps and boxed corners, followed by a ruffled zipper handbag with straps and hardware.
Learn quilting, bag construction, boxed corners, zipper installation, ruffle gathering, and professional finishing techniques—all while sewing alongside your fellow Sewmigas.

Prerequisite: Students must know how to sew or have completed Sewing FUNdamentals. Bring your own fabric and sewing supplies; Five Fruits Studio provides batting, interfacing, zipper, hardware, thread, basic sewing tools, snacks, and drinks.

Absolutely! Our Sewing FUNdamentals class is made for true beginners. We’ll walk you through every step—no experience needed, no judgment ever.
âDo I need to bring my own sewing machine?
Students are encouraged to bring their own machine to master! Although we can provide beginner-friendly sewing machines in class. Just let us know in the registry page.
âWhat should I bring to class?
For most beginner classes, we provide the materials you need. Once you register, we’ll send you a simple list of anything you might want to bring—like fabric you love or a snack to keep your energy up!
âHow long is the class and how many sessions are there?
Sewing FUNdamentals runs for four 2-hour sessions and meet twice-a-week. That gives you time to learn, practice, and actually finish a project without feeling rushed.
âHow much does it cost, and how do I pay?
Our 4-sessions course is $250, which includes most materials and in-person instruction. You can pay securely online when you register. We also offer flexible payment plans—just reach out and ask!
âWhat if I miss a class?
Life happens! We offer one make-up session per student per course, so you don’t fall behind. Just let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.
âWhere are classes held?
All classes are held at our cozy Five Fruits Studio location right here in Midland. You’ll get the exact address and parking details after registration.
âDo you offer classes for kids or teens?
Yes, we offer lesson age groups 12-17 only for the duration of summer — Be sure to join our email list for updates!
âCan I take this class with a friend?
Yes please! Sewing is more fun with a Sewmiga. If you register together, ask us about referral perks and maybe even a matching project set!
âI’m not creative or crafty—what if I’m terrible at this?
