Sewmiga's Monthly Workshop
Join us at Five Fruits Studio for our fun and beginner-friendly “Let’s Make Bags” Workshop! Students will create three stylish handmade bags while learning practical sewing techniques in a relaxed, creative environment. Projects include a trendy knot bag, a quilted tote bag with boxed corners, and a zippered cosmetic bag with cute ruffles. This workshop is perfect for beginners or anyone wanting to build confidence with bag-making, quilting, zippers, and sewing construction techniques. Just bring thread, one yard of main fabric, and one yard of lining fabric, and we’ll guide you stitch by stitch. Creativity, community, y mucho fun included!

❓I’ve never sewn before. Can I really join?
Absolutely! Our Sewing FUNdamentals class is made for true beginners. We’ll walk you through every step—no experience needed, no judgment ever.
❓Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?
Students are encouraged to bring their own machine to master! Although we can provide beginner-friendly sewing machines in class. Just let us know in the registry page.
❓What should I bring to class?
For most beginner classes, we provide the materials you need. Once you register, we’ll send you a simple list of anything you might want to bring—like fabric you love or a snack to keep your energy up!
❓How long is the class and how many sessions are there?
Sewing FUNdamentals runs for four 2-hour sessions and meet twice-a-week. That gives you time to learn, practice, and actually finish a project without feeling rushed.
❓How much does it cost, and how do I pay?
Our 4-sessions course is $250, which includes most materials and in-person instruction. You can pay securely online when you register. We also offer flexible payment plans—just reach out and ask!
❓What if I miss a class?
Life happens! We offer one make-up session per student per course, so you don’t fall behind. Just let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.
❓Where are classes held?
All classes are held at our cozy Five Fruits Studio location right here in Midland. You’ll get the exact address and parking details after registration.
❓Do you offer classes for kids or teens?
Yes, we are now accepting age groups 8-12 and 13-17 for the duration of summer — Youth classes are twice a week at $140. Be sure to join our email list for updates!
❓Can I take this class with a friend?
Yes please! Sewing is more fun with a Sewmiga. If you register together, ask us about referral perks and maybe even a matching project set!
❓I’m not creative or crafty—what if I’m terrible at this?
